CSM (Ret) John D. Sallee is the Army Instructor at Eastern High School.  He has been at Eastern High School for 4 years.  He is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, 2008.  Served in the Kentucky Army National Guard for 30 Years.

CSM Sallee was deployed to Operation Desert Storm in 1991, Operation Joint Forge (Bosnia) in 2001and again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 all with the 223d Military Police Company, Kentucky Army National Guard.  His highest military award is the Bronze Star Medal.
He also deployed for duty in Germany, Okinawa, Panama, and Ecuador.

CSM Sallee was born and raised in Louisville, KY and a graduate of Fern Creek High School.  He has been married to his wife Diana for 31 years.  They have two boys:  Alex, the oldest, is married to Michelle and they are expecting their first child in January 2017.  This will be the first grandchild.  Austin currently works at UPS as a part time supervisor.

COL (Ret) David P. Schneider is the Senior Army instructor at Eastern High School.  He has been doing that for the past 23 years.  He received a Regular Army Commission and a BA Degree from Niagara University, NY in 1965.  He received his MA degree from Central Michigan University in 1979.  He graduated from the Command and General Staff College in 1979 and from the US Army War College in 1984. He is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute, Monterey, CA, 1985, where he studied Japanese.

COL Schneider is very active in the local Middletown community where his partner, CSM Sallee and the Cadets of the Eagle Battalion support many different events all year long including policing two streets in Middletown almost every Friday after school and many events for the local VFW Post 1170, and the LIONS Club of Middletown.   COL Schneider has been a member of the VFW and LIONS Club for 23 years, joining them immediately upon his arrival because of the support that they gave to the JROTC program.

COL Schneider’s Military time consisted of assignments of Command and Staff at various levels of the Army from Platoon to Major Army Commands.  He spent 28 years in the United States Army, retiring at the rank of Colonel. 

Geographically, Col Schneider has been stationed in the US, Italy, Viet Nam, Germany, Korea, Japan and Hawaii.

COL Schneider was born in Auburn, New York, spending 18 great years growing up in a small town of 30,000 people.  He has two adult children: Chris, the oldest, is a Colonel in the Army and a graduate of West Point, living in Alexandria, VA, commanding as Project Manager, Soldier Sensors & Lasers in Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier, with his Colonel Army wife, Maria and three children; Andrea Legg is a mother and wife, having received a commission in the Air Force from the University of Kentucky.  Her husband Phil is an Air Force LTC; they have two children and were recently assigned to Wiesbaden Air Force Base, Germany. Chris, his wife Maria and Andrea’s husband Phil have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. .
